How the guides on this site are made

I write every guide on this site myself, and each one tells you how it was made.

From the shoot. Guides marked From the shoot are built on a job I've done, with what happened, the kit I used and the settings. They meet every rule on this page.

Researched and reviewed. The other guides, marked Researched and reviewed, draw on fifteen years of making video and close to ten years of teaching it, and are checked against primary sources, meaning manufacturers, standards bodies and the platforms' own documentation. I add real shoots to them over time, and each shows when I last reviewed it.

Kit. When I recommend gear or an app, I've used it. If I mention something I haven't used, I say so. If a product is discontinued or replaced, I update the guide.

Prices. In pounds, with the month I checked them.

Sources. Listed at the end of each guide, primary sources first. If I quote a figure or a rule, I link to where it came from.

AI tools. I use AI tools to help draft and tidy text. I check every fact, price and setting before anything goes live, and the examples and opinions are mine. Any image that isn't from one of my own shoots, including any made with AI, is labelled as an illustration or an illustrative photo.

Affiliate links. If a link ever earns me a commission, it's labelled on the page, and it never decides what I recommend.

Dates. "Published" is when a guide first went up. "Last reviewed" changes only when I've checked or changed the content.

Corrections. Spot a mistake? Email me at nigel@nigelcamp.com. I'll fix it and note what changed at the end of the guide.
